Happiest Place On Earth…

Chapter 15

“Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.”⁣

-Disneyland⁣

“I know some have their special place, but Disneyland is easily becoming my favorite place on Earth. The joy it brings me is immeasurable. After working extremely hard daily, I love going and escaping to The Happiest Place On Earth.⁣”

(The above quote is from my post from One Year Ago)

Today…

Only if we knew…

What has this world come to? I cannot believe that we are still locked away in this “Psychological Prison”. Where were you one year ago today? What were you doing? Could you even predict what was going to happen in the next ten days? It is unbelievable.

Over the last year, it started off as such an explosion of fast moving events that has transformed our way of life like no other time in history. I never could have imagined such a dramatic social and culturistic change such as what we have had in just twelve months. Toilet paper shortage, food shortage, quarantine, riots, deaths, transition in leadership, and a butt-load of “fear”.

In my book, “Fear” is the word of the year. It doesn’t sound too happy does it? Where is Mickey Mouse when you need him to cheer you up? He is locked away in the Castle somewhere because someone told him he had to quarantine too. In my opinion, Mickey serves as a unifying symbol that is greater than fear…

People identify with leaders that embrace challenge and change that lead head on without the worry of fear. I’m not being insensitive to idea that you need to take precautions such as covering up and using common sense when dealing with Covid, by no means am I advocating any insensitivities. What I am advocating are unique ways to strengthen yourself in understanding that while the Earth may not be so happy right now, and you can’t play in Mickey’s backyard, that doesn’t mean you have to stop playing.

We all lived through the last year, denying ourselves of public normalities that we all used to enjoy. Many people have lost their jobs and/or their lives have been transformed. We all have had to make changes. My point is that changes still involve motion, and that motion may push us into new directions but is doesn’t stop who we are!

Don’t let this last year crush your spirit and stop your drive to continue to live. Figure out a way to keep improving yourself and forging forward. We have no idea what the next year will be like, and using the experience of what the last year taught us, I am not the person that is going to sit around and allow myself to “fear” what is next. I am going to take the pieces I am given and try to build something out of them, rather than look at those pieces as rubble from a castastrophe.

How are you using the challenges in your life as opportunity for improvement? How are you viewing these opportunities as a way to get better? Sometimes life is not wrapped up in a shiny bow, sometimes you find treasure in a whole bunch of dirt. You have to sort through things, clean it up, polish it, and explore the magnificence of what value it brings to your life. If you have faced hardship, and you are still here, then you are lucky and blessed. I know the premise of the fact sounds ultra positive, but sometimes you have to look at what you have right now and decide to keep going forward.

We need Mickey to eventually understand this. We need Mickey to realize he is such an inspiration to all of us, and that so many people look to him for hope. We need Mickey to come out of the Castle and open up the gates to “The Happiest Place on Earth.”

Now… What if I told you that Mickey and “The Happiest Place On Earth” is just a metaphor to you and your life? Would that change your perspective? Would it pull you out of that “Psychological Prison” that you have been held in as hostage over the last year? We need you and everyone back to believing that we will overcome the fears and challenges of the world. We need people to understand we will get over this and move forward. We need leaders to instill and model this behavior of hope.

Are you going to be the person that brings hope to others or are you going to be Mickey locked away in the Castle in “Scariest Place on Earth”? Hope vs Fear – Which one are you going to be?

After a whole year of madness, I choose Hope. I also discovered through my challenges, that I love going to the “Happiest Place on Earth”, but just like the quote says above, “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy”… when it’s not a possibility to actually go to Disneyland, wherever I am blessed to be in this very moment becomes my “Happiest Place on Earth.”⁣
